On May 3, Strive participated in our very first Highmark Walk! This annual fundraising event supports local health and human service agencies. The primary goal of the walk is to help participating organizations raise funds for their individual missions. Thanks to Highmark underwriting all event costs, 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to the participating nonprofits.
We attended the event to raise funds for our upcoming summer programming and to help subsidize programs for students in underserved communities. Our table was set up next to the walk heavyweights – Friendship House! (Which honestly meant we had even more people stopping by our table, thanks for the boost, Friendship House!)
The weather was perfect, sunny with a light breeze – and the walk itself was a blast. Everyone was in great spirits, chatting it up as they made their way along the beautiful Wilmington Riverfront. The views were fantastic and added to the fun, laid-back energy of the day.
At our table, we featured a giant Jenga game with leadership questions written on each block – players were encouraged to answer a question as they pulled their piece. We also had a ring toss game where participants could win tons of fun Strive swag! The games drew a crowd, and our table stayed busy with people laughing, playing, and learning more about our mission.
While our Executive Director Caroline, Senior Director of Operations Krista, her mom Stacey, and Curriculum Coordinator Bree walked the route, our Marketing Manager Vaishnav held down the fort and kept the energy high at the booth.
We’re so grateful to Highmark for having us, and we’re already planning to make next year’s walk even bigger and better. We hope to see you there – thank you for your continued support!
