The needs of the communities that Strive partners with are growing and changing. With Sports Challenge On The Road, we’re offering a more responsive, accessible approach to leadership development, social-emotional learning, and community building. We asked our team how this new format aligns with what students and educators need most right now.
Supporting Overwhelmed Systems with Meaningful Development
Krista pointed out a clear reality:
“Everyone we work with, whether they have plenty of resources or not, is overwhelmed.”
In many settings, leadership development and social-emotional learning are seen as valuable, but often fall to the side when time and energy are stretched thin:
“We come in where there are often gaps in leadership development and social emotional learning, which we know are important but not always prioritized.”
This program offers direct support in that space, with a focus on long-term growth:
“This provides support to the holistic development of young people who need our guidance and mentorship.”
A Responsive Model for Deepening Challenges
Caroline noted that the challenges communities face are both complex and intensifying:
“The needs of the communities we serve continue to deepen—from stretched school staff, to students navigating disconnection and mental health challenges during a time of immense national distrust.”
The On The Road model meets partners where they are – not only geographically, but also developmentally and emotionally:
“By embedding our programming directly into schools and organizations, we’re reducing barriers and offering a responsive, relationship-driven model that supports young people in building the skills they need to thrive, not just now, but long-term.”
Removing Barriers, Building Skills
Emily echoed these sentiments, highlighting the ways this new model directly addresses barriers:
“Many of the communities we serve face challenges related to access, engagement, and resources. By bringing the program directly to them, we’re addressing these barriers head-on.”
This flexibility creates more inclusive and impactful opportunities:
“The new approach is more flexible and responsive, meeting students where they are both physically and developmentally.”
And ultimately, it supports the development of essential, human-centered skills:
“It’s designed to foster resilience, empathy, and communication skills that are critically needed now more than ever.”
Sports Challenge On The Road isn’t just a shift in format – it’s a direct response to the challenges young people and educators are facing today. By embedding leadership and connection into everyday spaces, we’re helping communities build the tools they need to grow together.
