Walking into Nativity Preparatory School for their monthly “House Day” feels like stepping into a whirlwind of energy and excitement. We’ve been loving the opportunity to lead Nativity’s House Day activities, where the whole school comes together for some fun competition. Picture an entire school split into four teams of 5th to 8th graders competing in games that combine teamwork, communication, and leadership. These games are unique, each offering a teachable moment focused on helping students better understand themselves. With the incredible support of Nativity’s staff, we tracked scores and amplified the fun while reinforcing Strive’s core values.
House Days perfectly showcase what makes Strive special. We saw students brush off setbacks and bounce back with resilience, embodying the idea that mistakes are opportunities to grow. Teams fueled each other with encouragement and positivity, creating a culture where everyone felt supported and empowered.
Students also took time to reflect on their strengths and areas for growth, demonstrating understanding of themselves and their roles within a team. Laughter filled the air, reminding us of the joy that comes from play and connection – and that students of all ages learn best when an experience is enjoyable and fun. Fairness and honesty were on full display as students upheld integrity, even in the heat of competition. Through challenges requiring determination, we witnessed a spirit of perseverance that brought teams closer together, forging bonds that we imagine lasting long after this House Day.
At the conclusion of each House Day, all the teams come together to reflect on their successes and highlight that, even if they didn’t win, they gained skills that will guide them in their journey toward becoming future leaders. Hearing students share how excited they were to participate in our activities and seeing their joyous anticipation as we set up for House Day is what fuels our passion for what we do.
Each House Day wraps up with reflections and smiles all around. One thing is clear: House Day is fun AND it’s a chance for students to practice and live out the skills that define great leaders. Huge thanks to Nativity Prep for making the day unforgettable. We can’t wait for the next one!
